Notes

The yarn is too heavy, I should’ve made the smaller size but I wasn’t thinking. Love it anyway. Big enough to crawl into and disappear… ;-)

The design is stunning in large scale.

NeulistiMNK suggested that the shawl has “an atmosphere of hauen leukaluu”. That’s so brilliantly put that I am renaming my shawl as Hauen leukaluu. Thank you, Neulisti!

It’s a bit complicated to explain what it means. Literally hauen leukaluu means pike’s jawbone.

In Finnish folklore and in the national epic Kalevala the main character Väinämöinen (a shamanistic hero with a magical power of song and music) makes his first kantele (a string instrument) from the jawbone of a giant pike.
