I decided to make a mini-stocking advent calendar using mini-skeins in a rainbow gradient after seeing Knitted Bliss’ Advent Calendar. I think she did hers a lot faster than I did mine. However, my plan to do a few a month over the course of the year really panned out. I don’t think I would have liked doing 25 stockings in a row!

Starting stocking #1. Size 2 needles are too big. Moving down a size and trying again.

Never mind. Size 2 is better.

Knitting in the round. Made garter border 4 rows. Added 3 rows before fair isle pattern. Made heel flap 10 rows.

Sock #1 is finally done. I did a lot of ripping out and adjusting for stitch count and gauge. I also was sick for a few days and did nothing. Made foot 8 rows so it’s long enough to duplicate stitch #s onto later.

Sock #2 done. Here’s what I’m doing for future reference:
Loop:
When CO, leave the 1st and last st, to K2tog, creating a loop.
Leg:
CO 28 sts. Knit 4 rounds garter st. Added plain column at end of ea. round for fair isle patterns. Knit 1 more round before beg heel.
Heel:
Follow Ann Budd’s directions for smallest size and largest gauge, except always slip 1st st. purlwise wyib, and limit to only 10 rows for the flap.
Leg:
6 rounds before beg decreases foll Ann Budd’s directions. Stop with 8 sts to kitchener.

February stockings are finally done after much experimenting. I tried to write out what I ended up doing so I can repeat it easily and quickly next month. If the kids cooperate.
