I’ve officially decided to knit this pattern for my guild’s Sweater-A-Long. Hopefully caking the yarn and casting on a gauge swatch today!

Finished a gauge swatch on size 2.5 needles.

With my gauge, I’m going to be knitting a pattern size somewhere between XXL and 3XL in order to get a size that will fit my hips…unless I want to do shaping. I’ll have to think about that. I kind of want a loose, boxy fit for this one. But I don’t want it to hang off my shoulders. I may have to make sizing adjustments between the yoke and the body. If I sneak in some increases to move from the XL size to the XXLish size, the XL size would be perfect for my upper bust with my gauge. I should get 37” then, which would essentially be the size Medium.

I did all the calculations to make the sweater fit my measurements and gauge. I did calculations for bust darts and hip increases too. I’m still not sure I want those, but I guess we’ll see how it goes.

I cast on at our guild meeting today. Working away at the collar. I realized I didn’t have the correct needles written in my project…It’s size 2.5 and size 0….I am crazy. I also realized I needed to order a 16” 2.5 circular!

Since I’ve gotten nowhere on this knit so far, I decided going back to the drawing board is not a big deal! I don’t want to do any shaping! I’m going to make the L - 43” size with my own gauge.

I finished the body and tried it on. It looks like it’s going to fit, but I’m a little concerned about the collar. There’s quite a sudden increase in stitch count there, and it seems to bunch up a bit. For once, I hope blocking takes care of this. I picked up 125 sts for the sleeve, so I added on 4.5 decreases at the beginning of the sleeve.

I decided to add about 2” of length to the body of this sweater.
