This cardigan has given me more work than I expected.
At first, I tried to follow the pattern, but once the shoulders were finished, I was not convinced. I prefer the “set in sleeve” sleeves, I think they fits better. I undid the knit and started again knitting the upper part of the back, until the beginning of the armhole. From the shoulders, I pick up the stitches for the respective fronts, always trying to keep the mock cable pattern. Once both fronts were knitted to the armhole, I joined them to the back and knitted them all together keeping a false seam on the sides with 2 mock cables at the side of the purl st.
I omitted the waist shaping, I continued the pattern and I ended up with the hem knitted with 2.75 mm needles
As for the sleeves, I followed the instructions given by Elizabeth Doherty bluebeestudio in her book: link text“Top down: reimagining set-in sleeve design” with 66 sts. and I started the elastic with 52 sts with 2.75 mm needles.
Regarding the front bands, I pick up the sts with 2.2 mm neeedles and the next round with 2.75 mm needles.
About the neck band, I took the points with needles 2.2, on the next row I changed to 2.75 and continued like that for 4 rows, I changed to 2.5 mm for 3 rows and ended up 3 more rows with 2.2 needles. With this method I avoid that the neckline is runaway, is much better adjusted to the front.
finally the sweater is great, it fit perfectly and the yarn is a dream. It weigh 407 grams without the buttons
