I CO 41 sts, and did a basic 1x1 ribbing: K1/P1, slipping the first stitch knitwise on one side, and the slipping the first stitch on the reverse side, purlwise.

I don’t have size 7US needles because I broke them, (because I fall asleep on my knitting) The scarf is a little floppier than I’d like because I’ve turned into a loose knitter. I really should have used smaller needles! I’m not pleased with the bound-off edge bcs it’s wider and looser than the CO edge.

Edit: I went back later and un-knit the last two rows, re-knitting this time with a size 3US and painstakingly did them as tightly as I could. (I don’t have smaller needles!) This almost solved the problem of the wavy edge. Not quite though. When did I become such a loose knitter? I know, I said that twice.

This scarf’s finished measurements are about 6.5” x 60.“ The color is man-appropriate and about the simplest one I could make for a discerning friend. It’s very cushy and soft. Feels wonderful to wear.

Update: Recipient adores the scarf--color and feel and length and width! Phew! He also won’t let the cats anywhere near it! Success!! Happiness all around!! I’m so pleased that I nailed it! :) :) :)

I have to rethink gift knitting; it really is awfully stressful knitting for men.
