Notes

Mr. Schnitzel is as cute as his name (his middle name is Teddy)! I made this matching to the Goldkind romper for a little baby boy.

Pattern notes:

  • The CO is effectful but really tricky - did not manage it more than once.
  • The legs arms and snout were fiddly but quick to make, as expected for this kind of knitting. They look cute. I did put the legs more to the front so the piggy is rather sitting than standing, found it more practical for him.
  • It took me a long time to correctly start the body, I ended up using only kfb increases instead of other m1, looks fine.
  • As the gauge was very small, I increased more on the body, ended up with something b/t 80 and 85 stitches. Well, that makes for a really fat piggy! While it still looks cute and is ok for the legs and arms, I think it became a bit too big compared to little baby/toddler hands.
  • The picking up of the stitches for the ears didn’t look nice (left a first row with quite big holes), so I knitted them flat and seamed them on. They turn out really cool.
  • I used Rippchen1974’s tip for the pigtail (CO number of stitches (24 for me), k all 1 row, kfB for 1 row, BO next row). Perfectly screwed up little tail, amazing!!
  • In the pattern the fly is roughly as wide as the snout. For my bigger Mr. Schnitzel I think I should actually have made the fly bigger. But well.
