Notes

Cotton stash busting. The pattern is well explained and easy to follow.
Nice feel & fit, and such a HAPPY sweater as I knitted this during the summer and in all the nice places I have been lucky enough to visit: Lyon for work, Tour d’Aige for a long-time reunion with my old roomies, a lot of train-time, Laeken in Netherlands for a rainly weekend, Toulouse with friends, lac du Pareloup when I was so scared of the nearby forest fire, beautiful Cévennes on the best camping site ever, during several wonderful long afternoons with friends, in the garden back home, and then finished it the weekend after back-to-school frenzy.

YARNS:
My MC is the Phil Madrague which is quite thick for these needles (not very smooth to knit), though the knitted material looks good. Then just stashbusting all my cotton yarn, as well as the mustard-yellow Omega+ which I’d used for wash spirals and the dark blue merino from a baby sweater (b/c I needed another dark color over the bust).

STRIPES:
The stripes were 10 rows , then 1 single row of MC. At the bust (2nd time I used the same colors) I had to go down to 8 rows so as to not run out of yarn. Don’t imagine just how many ends I had to weave it…! Having fun with the colors, it definitely is a crazily colorful shirt but they somehow work together. I only regret the white :(.

MODS:

  • Didn’t follow the instruction for the lower rib … but don’t do that, trust the pattern!
  • Sleeves: I made them in k1 p1 rib, and all the way through. That turned out really cool. I hesitated going up one size as I have rather thick arms, I didn’t and I am very happy about that, they fit very well and that gives the shirt a more modern and flattering fit actually.
  • The vertical bust darts turned out really bad, they are not were my boobies are! I really don’t like bottum up construction, you never know where you are!! In the end they look like ruffles near the decollté and that’s ok.
