PATTERN: This is a first pattern from the designer, which I would not have thought as the pattern is very professionnal, very thoughful (loads of options) and helpful (loads of tips - at the right place, not hidden at the end or cramped in the beginning). The colorwork charts in 2 colors are really cool, too.

KNITTING: Did the provisional cast on without crochet hook, which I found easier. The pattern was easy, quick and really fun to knit. I did not go up half a needle-size for the botanical section … but I should have. :-D Well, should block out ok.

YARNS: I wanted to stashbust but I loved the idea of variegated yarn like in the pattern exemple so much, that I went to my LYS where I found this crazy Karma … not very natural fibers, but it just made me think of spring colors … like the cowl’s name, and mermaids … the designer is doing a PhD in marine biology (so cool!) … had to be a sign, hehe. I have no brand of the white cotton, it is the unravelled UFO of an old family friend who recently died, so I really wanted to use it. Both yarns were nice to knit.
