Elena was born prematurely in the early morning of May 23, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano. She was called to heaven just over two hours later. Elena’s time here on Earth was brief. It is a blessing her mommy and daddy hold true to their hearts, and a time they will cherish forever. Elena’s memory and her family’s love for her still lives strong. So we ask that you please join us in celebrating her first birthday and hope that you will consider purchasing a preemie hat for $23 to signify her birth date. http://elenasechoes.blogspot.com/2012/08/a-kindness-in-me...
Your purchase will be made in loving memory of Elena Marie. All proceeds will be donated to March of Dimes to help support families in the NICU (https://www.marchofdimes.com/giving/support_nicu.html). An acknowledgement of the donation will be emailed to you, and a printed receipt will also be mailed to the shipping address associated with your Etsy account.
The donation will be made in your name and in the amount you paid to purchase a preemie hat. I can make it in honor or memory of someone special to you. Otherwise, it will be made in memory of Elena Marie.
The hat can be shipped to your favorite preemie or you may choose to donate it, and ask for the hat to be shipped to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano. You will receive a shipping notification with a tracking/confirmation number.

P.S. I’d like to give a shout out to my ‘mother in-law’ for donating yarn to help further the cause!
Response from the head nurse in charge at NICU at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano:
