Let me say that my pathetic ugh emoticon is due to my skills not this pattern. Pattern is great and I’m using my unused skeins to start another, taking into account the way it grows when washed.

Jan 3- Correction- I ruined this sweater. I washed gently and went to block but it had grown so much, I knew no amount of scrunching or pinning would fix it. So I tried washing in warm water to slightly felt or tighten it. This worked fine on everything done in stockinette. But the ribbing at collar, bottom of sleeves and hem were loose and floppy. So, I tried spot- felting them (hey, it worked on something else I made once) and they’re now just thick and floppy. It is mostly shapeless except for the extreme flaring at the ribbed edges. And it was perfect before I washed it. I want to cry or hit something- but I won’t.

Now I’m afraid to wash my Owls sweater made with the same wool.

Jan 3- finished weaving in all of those little yarn ends and am pretty satisfied, though I still have to block.
Dec. 3- I’m almost finished with the contrast color stripes on body and now I decide to read all the other knitter’s notes on this sweater (of course.). I see now that I should have made my stripes an uneven number of rows wide so that I’d only have to weave in half the ends on each side’ s front band, rather than fitting them all on the left side. Hmmm.
I’m also not sure about how much my little banded edges want to curl under. That may be a problem even after blocking.
