Notes

Use size 8 circular needles with your 15” cord.

Cast on 85 stitches. I use long-tail cast on with a working yarn piece 2x my spread-eagle arm span.

Slip the last stitch onto the left needle and k2tog for the first stitch, to secure the round. Then K1. Remainder of rows is p2 k2 ribbing for 20 rows, or just over 3”.
Then knit all for stockinette 30 rows until hat measures 8 1/2” from the cast on edge.

Bind off loosely, leaving a long tail for seaming. I don’t know Kitchener stitch or I’d use it to close the seam. Instead I reverse the hats to the purl side and stitch the top closed, going through both bind-off stitches with a yarn needle. Pull stitches snugly. This makes a very nice seam.

Weave in yarn ends. Reverse hat. When worn, the kitty ears will appear!

Inspired by the PussyHatProject.com Women’s Marches on January 21, 2017. I knit in support of these women. Thank you Krista Suh and Jayna Zweiman
