I’ve had this yarn for quite some time and really wanted it to become Tintern Abby Socks but could not seem to get past the toe. I thought that the slight variegation would look amazing in cables and this skein must have been destined to be BFF Socks.

First sock went off without a hitch, great pattern, easy to memorize, resulting in mindless TV knitting. But then the second sock…

Disaster struck. I got through the leg, turned the heel and was working the foot when I realized that I had knit one less repeat on the leg of the second sock than I had on the first sock. I had counted it over and over and over again to make sure they were exact replicas of each other and here, after the heel, I found out they were not.

Tears, I mean big crocodile tears. Devastation. I might be slightly fixated on my socks being exact matches. I sat, cried, and stared at this poor second sock knowing that I would either have to rip back, or suffer knowing that I have two different socks.

Unwilling to rip back, I made the decision to just deal with it, no one will see that they are different anyways, right?! So the second sock is about 1/2 inch shorter than the first. Other wise they are perfect.
