My first Lopapeysa :)
gauge: 17.5sts x 22rows (5mm needles)
3.5mm needles just for vertical front bands
Ok, I have to “do the math” as the gauge is way off…
I knit all rows of 3 colour scheme.
Start with provisional cast on, from bottom yoke up, with 222sts, then knit body and arms, top-bottom. This will ensure the perfect fit, as I can modulate the body and arms sts after finish the yoke and try it on my body.
Cast on 222sts: 5 (steek) + 34 (left front) + 42 (left arm) + 66 (back) + 42 (right arm) + 33 (left front).
This have 5 steek sts + 36 pattern repeats, knit all way up till neck. Done a extra inside neck band in soft merino to prevent my neck get itchy… this inside band didn’t work on hem and wrists: gets too much volume.
After finish yoke, pick up sts from provisional cast on to knit body and arms. Underarm will have 6sts more.
Steeks just in yoke. Use the http://katedaviesdesigns.com/2012/04/29/steeks-2-reinforc... method. THANK YOU Kate Davies for your so clear tutorial!
Body have 150sts: 5 (steek) + 34 (left front) + 6 (left underarm) + 66 (back) + 6 (right underarm) + 34 (left front). Waist shapping by decreasing 20sts and increasing 32sts.
Sleeves have 48sts: 42 + 6 (underarm), decreased 4sts along the sleeve.
done all the stranded knitting
divided body from arms
did the crochet reinforcement and cutting part… FEAR!!! I think it’s not reinforced enough!!! Maybe I did the crochet reinforcement too loose, I will do a machine sewing reinforcement, just in case :S And as the crochet became too loose, curling too much, I decided to frog it (MORE FEAR!) redo it as possible and I will machine sew it again… Trying not to ruin my stranded work… Now I think that I did it in a too loose gauge for just a 5sts steeks :( I’ll do a “sandwich” border, to hide all the mess I did :(
Just finished knitting! :D Missing the zipper sewing part…
And… Finally finished!
