Notes

Notes to others

If you are new to stuffed animals, I would recommend you start with a pattern with more detailed instructions first. These instructions are fine, but pretty advanced. They assume you know how to knit and lack some specifics and close-up photos of the steps.

Try not to make increases into the first and last stitches in a row… this will make seaming more difficult.

December 18, 2022

Getting started late for this Christmas, but it might be ready next year.

I’ll just go in pattern order. It looks like Joseph is first. His coat will be more blue-green than green.

December 20, 2022

Joseph is done. I had to redo the twisted braid three times, but I am glad I kept trying and didn’t go with my first one. I wish I could move his eyes down a row. Maybe I will try it later.
1 of 14 done.

December 22, 2022

Starting on Mary. I am using fingering weight yarn held double.

December 26, 2022

I finished up Mary. The hair was kind of tricky. I ended up cutting it long and tying it up in the back in a low pony tail.
Then I started on baby Jesus and the manger.

December 27, 2022

I am pretty happy with the Holy Family. The manger hay was interesting to make. I used size 10 straight needles to make it since I don’t have size 11 straights. I ended up making two “caterpillar Pom poms” to fill up the manger.
