Notes

I’m going to try my swatch with a #7 (4.5mm) hook this time. Chose the red yarn because the pattern looks like flames to me.

Liking my fabric with the #7 and this yarn. I’m going to start with a 50 stitch foundation chain (which includes the tight tch), and 7 pattern repeats should do the job.

I ended up needing 8 pattern repeats for the hat to fit comfortable. Wondering if I’d made a stupid mistake with my gauge math, I measured again and realized that my gauge changed rather drastically in the middle of the hat somewhere -- too much Ukraine war news, and not enough news about my friend! I probably could have gotten away with 7 pattern repeats, but it would have been a really snug fit.

I love, love, LOVE these hats and this crochet method!
