Notes

It’s smocking! So cool. And very stretchy fabric.

Next hat I will use an “I” hook so I can add one more section, but then I might need to add one stitch pattern repeat for height… Or, if the sections were redesigned to include only one or two row pattern repeats, that would give more flexibility on sizing -- something to ponder for future projects.

I’m finding it VERY helpful to PM in the FLO of the skipped stitches so I can find the very tiny ch-sp later for the spiked-sc.

Using Lyuda’s twisted-slst and tight tch for a tidy and decorative bottom edge.

Done. Only worked 4 sections, because adding a 5th would have been humungous! So calling this an “Adult Small/Medium” -- fits me nicely as a snug beanie, too small on my husband.

I’m still not 100% crazy about the seam, but good enough for this hat. If/when I make this again, I might experiment with a sewn seam a la Lyuda.

I am VERY happy with the “twisted-slst” bottom edge of the hat. very stretchy, very attractive, sc would have been too tight.

I love, love, LOVE this smocking pattern -- must use it on some other projects. It’s even attractive on the WS, so I would happily put it on something reversible like a scarf.
