Notes

Very cute pattern.
I’d make it again with thinner yarn.
Modeled on baby but adult size. Looks cute in photos but would fall over his eyes.

25-10-2017

Yarn held double (all of them). It is amazing how fast knitting this fat goes, I never seem to work with such thick needles. but I can’t say I like thick fabric.

I cast on with one strand of yarn only, and it was a little too thin so I reinforced with crochet.

I don’t have 10,5 DPNs so I used 10 for the ears. I added two more rows to make up for it, one before increases and another between 15 and 16.

26-10-2017

I’m knitting the pink pieces with yarn held double and a little larger. I want to felt them as well since the MC is superwash and I want Vane to be able to throw this in the washing machine.

19-11-2017

Felted inner ears and antlers by putting them in a laundry bag and throwing them in the wash twice.

I had to sew on the second ear three times and it is still not perfect. But one of my ears is higher than the other also, so this hat can live with it. It doesn’t even need to balance glasses on top of wonky ears, like I do.

This is super cute. I have to make one for Erik but it won’t be so thick.

Notes

Vane’s head circumference 55 cm.

Tip: sew antlers to big button on inside for rigidity
Tip 2: hat has to fit to skull for the antlers to stand up

Sew the ears shut straight across before folding..
Sup the sides to attach the top to the hat so they don’t droop.

^ Forgot either of these things and it’s fine. Drooping ears are cute.
