Notes

Modifications:

Increases: backwards loop
Edge sts: one slipped st + 1 garter st
I added one st to the edging (in garter), and am slipping (yif) the last st of every row, so the increases are actually one stitch further in.

Also made a wider garter edging and I decreased a little under 10% before starting this section.

It turned out absolutely enormous and I love it. The gauge differences blocked out very well, even though I couldn’t block it hard. When I drape it over my shoulders the tips reach beyond mid shin! It’s warm and super cozy, but very lightweight.

My edges are always messy and on my first attempt I had a very loopy mess in my hands (see bottom-most picture). It’s neater now (next pic up) after starting over with my modifications.

I’m not sure that my edging is loose enough, so I blocked what I’ve made so far. At blocking time it looked allright but we’ll see when it’s dry (next pic up).

And it’s fine. On with it.

I recently started my third ball. I located some of this discontinued yarn online but it seems to be a reissue with a different name (not yet in Ravelry). The colour is darker, more even, and I’d say a hair more purple in certain light. I joined at one of the “stripes”.

I had to rip several times throughout this project. My tension is terribly erratic, and at points tends to get ridiculously loose. After ripping a good chunk, I switched to 2.75 mm needles. They’re slick chromed metal, which doesn’t help with my issues, but it’s all I had in this size. It’s really frustrating but I can’t find a way to maintain even tension even during the same sitting. I don’t know if it’s my poor joints, my personality ;) or both.
The project is starting to get too large to carry in my bag, hope to finish soon.

Picked this one up. Only been WIP for 10 f years!
This was abandoned because I was completely incapable of keeping remotely consistent gauge, I don’t know if it’s the yarn or what, I usually struggle with this but not to this astonishing extent. I also found it on 2.75mm wooden needles, maybe I bought them at some point.

Reading notes it looks like I frogged large sections because of this…. and it still looks like crap. But I’m just gonna finish it and wear this large swath of fabric.

I’m now about to do the garter edge. On this last row of St st I’m decreasing for garter (not in the pattern but I want a garter edge as wide as a section), k10 SSk (sts are with loops facing back on needles due to knitting eastern uncrossed). There’s 12 sts to the right of the spine after knitting this section, don’t know of it’s the fruit of some inevitable mistakes but I don’t care? I will keep decreasing and increasing as established during the garter section.

26-09-2025

The garter edge while following the decreases works very well since garter makes a 45° angle
I bound off following the last decrease to the left of the edge st, on the rs, and this blends the edge st seamlessly into the bind off. Bound off normally and tightly but with a 6mm needle

It is HUGE. Can’t pin to block so just spreading it on the floor and so cannot block as heavily as I’d like, there’s some rippling.
