7-28-11- finished. worn. and photographed! LOVE the buttons I found at the shop yesterday. vintage-y and girl-y and a just heavy enough to hold down those collar flaps. got a lot of compliments… feels good!
7-22-11 - got halfway through the waist increases last night. knitting this is addictive! (discovered an error with the cable chart - the left twist should read “put 1 on CN and hold to FRONT. K1, K1 from CN)
7-20-11 - got gauge on 5’s…. my 3rd sweater in a row on those needles :-) am in love with the pattern and the yarn. oh my the yarn…I’m back to knitting at stoplights it feels so good. added 1 more increase to the sleeves and 2 more to the body before separating the sleeves. now I’m almost ready to start the front cable detail.
7-15-11 - going to swatch today - yay!!!
Notes:
1. did 4 more rounds (2 increase repeats) before splitting off sleeves; added stitches on sleeves and body for the 1st extra repeat, body only for the 2nd. (had 62 sleeve stitches and 98 front/back stitches when I split)
-
sleeves - did the decreases on rounds 4 and 7; bound off on round 10.
-
worked the collar last (after the sleeves); picked up 80 stitches.
-
blocking…of course I wet blocked! VERY challenging with the pleats! I pinned the back pleat to hold it down while I worked on the fronts. I flipped it back over while it was still just a bit damp, but I lost the definition on the back. I used a very heavy steam iron to put the pleats back in. it lasted a couple of hours. looking at the photos after 6+ hours of wearing (the ones outside), I think it’s fine!
-
finished measurements - bust 35” (1.5” positive ease); waist 32”; hips(bottom) 38” - this freaked me out…but it appears OK. sleeve width 12”; length from armhole to bottom edge 14” (I’m almost 5’6”)
