Getting a nice edge with manipulated pushers

In order to get a nicely knitted edge when using pusher sensitive patterns like those with AX, EX etc. you might have manually moved the edge pushers so far.

Remember, manually lower the left and right most pusher at the beginning of the first <-FX row for each pattern repeat. ie before knitting row 1 of pattern, manually lower the left most and right most pusher on the front bed. Knit through row 10 of pattern. Before knitting row 11, repeat process, lowering the left most and right most pusher on the front bed. Continue doing this at the beginning
Why? You want the edge stitches to always knit, never tuck. Since the front lock is on FX for the entire blanket, and the pushers change position once every 10 rows, you have to manually put these two pushers down or you will end up tucking the edge stitches and dropping them. It also gives a very neat edge that gently rolls to the back and mirrors the look of the back patterning. A win win and easy edge.

If you use manipulated pushers, you do not have to pay attention to moving the edge pushers every now and then.
However, people sometimes have difficulties to shape the pushers adequately and sometimes the manipulated pusher gets moved unintentionally and can get into the lock and block it.
To avoid this, I can only recommend you to buy a set of professionally manipulated pushers plus the red plastic „pushers“ which keep the manipulated pushers in the right place.

The long red plastic „pusher“ can be used for AX patterns with rows of N in between. Only when knitting with N, the stitches are knitted and so you get a nice wavy edge.

Um einen ordentlich gestrickten Rand auch bei Verwendung von AX-, EX- usw. Mustern, also den so genannten Fang- bzw. Henkelmustern, zu bekommen, muss man oft die Stößerautomatik der Duo 80 „überlisten“. Das kann man tun, indem man die Stößer der Randnadeln entsprechend dem Muster von Hand in die gewünschte Position schiebt, was sehr gut in manchem Projekt auch beschrieben wird Siehe dazu den Link und das Zitat im englischen Text oben.)
Mit manipulierten Stößern muss man nicht mehr ständig auf das händische Verschieben der Randstößer achten.

Allerdings macht es oft Schwierigkeiten, die Stößerköpfe auf die richtige Weise abzufeilen und zudem kann es beim Stricken passieren, dass die manipulierten Stößer falsch positioniert sind und dadurch das Schloss blockiert wird.

Um solches zu vermeiden, kann ich empfehlen, ein Set professionell manipulierter Stößer plus der kurzen roten Distanzhalter aus Plastik zu verwenden. Ihr dürft mich gerne fragen, woher man diese Sets beziehen kann. (Ich selbst bin nicht die Verkäuferin.)

Die langen roten Plastik-„Stößer“ können für Muster verwendet werden, mit abwechselnden Reihen von N und z. B. AX-Reihen. Die Randmaschen werden dann nur in den N-Reihen abgestrickt, was einen sehr hübschen Rand ergibt.
