I modified this pattern because I was looking for a spider web square for my afghan project that I am working on. I used a 4.25mm hook.

On rows 5,7 and 9, I modified the pattern by working the stitches from the pattern in the row below the chain spaces, making sure the chain spaces remained in the front of the work. By doing this the chain spaces became part of the spider’s web I was looking to create.

On row 11 I did something a little different. I again worked the stitches, that were supposed to be worked on the chain spaces, in the row below but this time I worked with the chain spaces behind the work as I decided that I did not want these chain spaces seen. I did work the corner stitches around the chain space and in the previous row just as the pattern said to.

Row 12 is the last row I completed as I needed only a 10 in square for the afghan I am working on.
