I made the cable band but didn’t use it. It looked too decorative. Didn’t use the turning ridge either, too frilly. Added 2x2 ribbing on the back and made the collar 0.5 inch taller (inspired by this vintage sweater).

Adding a zipper was, as expected, a challenge especially since it was my first time working with a zipper with a knitted object. I tried the no-sew method, but didn’t like the finish. Instead, I followed this tutorial with a YKK brass metal zipper. I wasn’t too happy with the unfinished look of the zipper. It is very revealing when not zipped up completely to the chin. I sewed on 5/8 inch grosgrain ribbon to cover it. Found a great deal at Etsy.
