I may or may not have a kidsilk addiction problem (I totally have a kidsilk addiction problem). So this improv came about trying to use up some stash and find a way to knit up Hedgehog Fibres sock yarn on bigger needles.

The speckles in finer weight yarns are just irresistible but thanks to some tendonitis issues, I can’t knit them on needles smaller than a US 7. They lose a lot of their charm at such a loose gauge and I was never really happy with the fabric. Then one knit night, the fabulous and prolific cdknitty was working up one of her sweaters with a Tosh speckle and Isager Alpaca lace as a carry-along and it looked amazing! The soft focus was just perfect.

construction notes:
This was a pretty quick and satisfying knit and it can be put together using any combination of leftover stash of either yarn. Add or subtract a stripe whenever the mood strikes.

The sample has a slipped stitch selvage but I started a second one without and think I like it better. For some reason, in the slip stitch version, my tension went wonky and the left edge is significantly looser than the right.

Bias stockinette fabric in combination with bigger needles has little to no roll. Twenty minute soak in grapefruit Eucalan, salad spinner to squeeze out water, and dried flat. Didn’t even bother to pin it out, just a stretch here and there to shape.

Total weight of scarf is 100 grams.
