Notes

A friend of mine’s sofa throw inspired me. I sat down with a piece of graph paper and sketched out the basics, then came home and reworked it. I completely redesigned a few of the squares. There are eight patterns total that repeat.

I used Rowan Denim because I had used it to knit a coat for myself, and I knew it would be pretty soft and would wash well in the machine -- a must with a baby. Also, while it’s a creamy white it has some color variation in it, which is nice. The only downsides are the yarn has a loose twist so it’s easy to split stitches while you’re knitting, and your knitting shrinks in length when you wash it so it’s tough to know exactly how long to make it. I made it an extra square long and it still came out slightly shorter than it is wide.

I gave it a plain single crochet edge but you could do something much more elaborate.

Anyway, if I get some demand I’ll write it up into a pattern.

Cheers,
PIMM
