Notes

Consider a gauge and block/pin aggressively!

I saw this project at Vogue Knitting Live and it was so beautiful I had to try it. I was a little dubious about the color work, but, as the Yarn Carnival person said, it was just some clever slip-stitching and very doable.

While the pattern says you don’t really need to knit a gauge, I recommend doing it anyway. My shawl is gorgeous but would benefit from being a little larger.

My other pointer is in blocking. I had to pin really aggressively to get not just anything close to the suggested dimensions but also the points -- see the close-up photo. It’s painstaking to take each point, find the right stitch to pin, pin it, move to the next one. And, the whole shawl took more than 100 pins. BUT my work was well-rewarded.
