Notes

Pair five in my yearly sock challenge of a pair a month. My overall aim with the project is to undertake either something new or challenging with each pair.

May is the month of my Birthday, so the plan this month was always to pick out something luxurious to spoil myself.

For the pattern I selected Blossom Lace - my first Japanese Lace pattern. The pattern took a few reads through to understand the instructions, and the pattern chart for this sock looks a bit daunting. Once the knitting gets started though it is very straightforward and knits up quickly. The mix of twisted stitches and lace make for very complicated looking cables, but they are in fact very simple.

This is a top down sock, so I started with a tubular cast on. Aftler last months adventure with magic loop, I am glad to be back on my beloved 20 cm addi’s.

Slight modification at the heel flap to increase up to 33 sts for symmetry (corrected stitch count back on heel turn) I also added a reverse st st selvedge at the start and end of row for neat picking up along the gusset.

The yarn is Cashluxe Fine from Sweet Georgia. It is absolutely kitten soft - but still has a good twist.
