I made my standard modification of knitting the centre panel and then picking up stitches around the edge to work the border with mitered corners. I do this with most blankets as I find this prevents flare and puckering. At the same time I made the Seed Stitch border a little bit deeper than recommended in the pattern.

I didn’t find any problems with working the P5tog - but working with Hiya Hiya sharps definitely helped ! The pattern recommends 4mm needles. Before blocking the fabric was very dense at this gauge - closer to a bathmat or rug.

During the blocking process I have all but eliminated the bobbles through agressive blocking. The result is still very textured and more suited to the drapey fabric I prefer for a baby blanket.

If I worked this again I would probably use at least a 4.5mm or even a 5mm to get a less dense fabric, yet maintain the bobbles.

There is lots of scope for playing with gauge and yarn with this pattern - I will almost certainly be revisiting this one.
