Notes

Pair ten in my yearly sock challenge of a pair a month. My overall aim with the project is to undertake either something new or challenging with each pair

For October I’m stretching my newly fledged tester wings and trying out Kalros.

Loosely cast on 76 using an alternate cable cast on.

The silk content of this yarn not only gives great stitch definition, but gives an interesting depth and texture to the tiny cables. I think the overall effect is of carved stone.

Michelle’s pattern is so clearly written and charted - it really is a joy to follow.

I’m an experienced sock knitter, but I don’t think I have ever knit a fleegle heel before - at least I don’t recall doing so ! So I had some challenging cables and a new heel this month. I find the gusset and heel to be a generous fit on my average instep.

The toe shaping was started at row 45 of chart F. I adjusted the stitch count between top and bottom needles to balance out the extra 2 stitches on the top needle. Because I rearranged the stitches I did not decrease at row 148 and kept the regular cable twist.

Each completed sock took 43g/172 m .
