Notes

28.01.2017

I’ve called this munchkin(ish) because I only partly followed the suggested construction, and then also changed the colour sequence !

For triangles 1 and 2 I made two triangles with identical stripes (Col A - D ) then placed them opposite each other point to point.

For triangles 3 and 4 I picked up all the way along the provisional cast on - 90 sts from triangle 1 and 90 sts from triangle D. When working triangle 3 and 4 I also inverted the stripe sequence (Col D- A)

For triangles 1 and 2 I started with a plain garter st row (no decreases) for triangles 3 and 4 I started with a decrease row. This seems to have eliminated any ridges (see pic 4 ) - the join is between the Grey and Cream stripe. Making the first row a decrease row when picking up stitches also helped to tighten up any joins at the centre of the blanket.

A quick note about the yarn - Legacy is DK weight yarn so I dropped down to work on a 4.5mm/US 7. When put in for a soak the fibres softened up lots and I gained about 20% without even needing a proper blocking (I just lay it out flat to dry)

This was pretty much entirely knit on the commute to work. It’s a super easy knit. To make it even more commuter friendly and if you don’t mind a bit of sewing to finish up your project, this blanket could just as easily be made up from 4 squares worked on the bias.
