Figure [6a] shows a sample swatch prior to a 30-minute soak. Figure [6b] shows the swach after the soak. I was extremely pleased with the results. There was absolutely no colour bleeding.

Adjustment Notes

I adjusted this pattern given:

  1. My head circumference is 24”
  2. Mirasol Ushya gives me 3.5 SPI w/ 11mm (US 8) DPNs

Below are my final steps:

CO 4 stitches
1st rnd: (Inc 1 st in next st.) Repeat 4 times. 8 sts. Divide sts across three DPNs. 3/3/2. Join in rnd.
2nd and alt rnds: Knit
3rd rnd: (Inc 1 st in next st.) Repeat 8 times. 16 sts.
5th rnd: (Inc 1 st into every 2nd st.) Repeat 8 times. 24 sts.
7th rnd: (Inc 1 st into every 3rd st.) Repeat 8 times. 32 sts.
9th rnd: (Inc 1 st into every 4th st.) Repeat 8 times. 40 sts.
11th rnd: (Inc 1 st into every 4th st.) Repeat 10 times. 50 sts.
13th rnd: (Inc 1 st into every 5th st.) Repeat 10 times. 60 sts.
15th rnd: (Inc 1 st into every 5th st.) Repeat 12 times. 72 sts.
17th rnd: (Inc 1 st into every 12th st.) Repeat 6 times. 78 sts.
Next 5 rnds: Knit
Work in chart, noting that 13st pattern will be worked 6 times.
Next 3 rnds: Knit

Redistribute the stitches across the needles: 26/26/26

Divide for Earflaps
Cast off 6 sts from needle 1. Knit remaining stitches on needle 1. Cast off all stitches from needle 2. Knit 21 stitches on needle 3. Cast off remaining stitches on needle 3.

Follow the original directions for each ear flap until you get to the point where the RS is facing, and there are 9 stitches remaining, then do the following to complete the flap:

rnd 1: K, K3TOG, K, SSSK, K. 5st.
rnd 2: P5
rnd 3: K, K3TOG, K
rnd 4: P3
rnd 5: K3TOG. Fasten Off.
