This cowl is one of my projects for Handmade Scarves for Japan.
A kal named “Scarves for Japan 手作りマフラーを、東北に　KAL” just started in KAL in Japanese group to encourage the project.

The big st is called ‘Drive st’ in Japanese. I guess it is ‘Elongated st or Dropped st’ in English.

This is how to…..Knit in ususal way, but wrap yarn 3 times around needle. On the next row, work only the first wrap and drop the other sts.
