I used yarn that was donated to the prayer shawl group. The yarn was Lion Brand Homespun Hepplewhite, which gave it a nice texture and a lime green yarn which was not labeled, but i assume it was the same as the yarn in white prayer shawl #1 only in green - Red Heart Baby Sport, a thin yarn w/ a metalic thread thru it which gives a nice visual interest.

I used a k2tog, yo pattern for about 6 inches and then reverted to a straight knit pattern. I will add the k2tog border on the other end as well. It just adds some uniqueness to the shawl.
On the large needles w/ the textured yarns a straight knit pattern is quite pretty and interesting. As i worked on it in various public places it got many compliments.
