Notes

11/15/2017 Finalized fiber plan last night/this morning at insomniac o’clock. Want to use the Noro in a stranded pattern with the cash/merino, but I am concerned about the structural integrity of any Noro in a piece that will see lots of use as my experience with Noro’s yarns is that they tend to be unevenly plied and somewhat delicate. Epiphanously realized that holding the Noro in triplicate with cash and Jagger will be aesthetically pleasing, produce a harder-wearing fabric, and match up weights of yarn more closely to produce a desirable hand. I feel confident enough about this that I am recklessly NOT going to swatch. I am a fucking genius! Now, to chart the color work so I can cast this bitch on! Yippee!

11/22/2017 It comes as no surprise to me that I thought I had picked yarn… only to change my mind. I am holding cash/merino double with this recycled cash as my MC and the Noro in triplicate with this wool and this cash as my CC1. It is also not at all surprising that I was overly stressed about charting so I just cast on and went with “let’s see what happens!”

  • In MC, c/on 54 sts
  • Join in round and PM at 3/24/3/24
  • (K1, M1L K until 1 st before marker, M1R, K1) x 4

11/23/2017 As of today, I’m at 39/60/39/60 sts. That’s 72 rows deep, and I don’t know why the fuck I put an even number of sts on the long sides when I plan to do color work. Ugh. This is what happens when you get too excited to start and skip right over planning. I needed to swap up to a longer cord an saw an opportunity to close the center while the piece lay flat.

  • Pick up bases of the OG 54 sts
  • Split 3/24/3/24 like when I started
  • With the tail of c/on and right side facing, K2Tog (one being the corner st on a 3 side and the other being the corner st on an adjacent 24 side)
  • K to one st before marker
  • remove marker
  • K2Tog
  • Ignore middle st of the 3 st side that you just knocked dahn to 2 (I know this does not make sense in retrospect, but it’s what I did)
  • Just like the last corner, K2Tog (one being the corner st on a 3-now-2 side and the other being the corner st on an adjacent 24 side)
  • K to one st before marker
  • remove marker
  • K2Tog
  • Now you’ve got your live st you just made next to the single remaining c/o pickup followed by the first live st you made with the tail - K all 3 of those tog
  • close the live sts as they face each other using Jenny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off

12/8/2017 CC2 is 4 strands held and knit as one. 2 strands of merio/silk, gray, and cash. Used c/on and increase formatting found/altered from one of my favorite reference books, Traditional Knitted Lace Shawls and charting from Flower Mittens pattern out of Norwegian Handknits (which is a less awesome but still good reference).

2/14/2018 NTS:

  • thin 717, blue 1033, gray 532 approx 500 gray

  • beige 1061, cash 1213 approx 1100 beige

  • noro 352, white 820, cash 400 approx 400 white
