Referring to this as the “first pancake” sock because it’s a bit of a mess and more of a life-size swatch than finished product. Wearable, but not pretty, much like the first pancake in a batch. Photographing the problem spots so I can reference them when I start knitting the “real” pair.

Starting with short-row toe (note: not included in this book). Toe, heel, and cuff to be knit in Fresh Cut (light green), with foot and gusset knit in stripes with Shady Verdant (dark green). Striping: experimenting. Slipping first st of each color change for jogless stripes (remember to let color change move 1 st to the left on each change).

DK Lively is described by Hazel Knits as a heavy DK/light worsted. Using 48 sts on US 2 needles to produce a sturdy but wearable sock.

Notes: for provisional co, use larger needle. Foot needs to be about 1/2” longer. 3” cuff for anklets.

Updates:
02 July 2013: Decided on a stripe sequence (2-3-1-3). Still having tension issues with the jogless join (you can see a diagonal wobble). I can smooth it out afterwards, but that seems like a bit too much work for basic socks. Switched to just carrying the colors, but that leaves a little ridge on the inside, running under the foot. Could wind up being a little uncomfortable while wearing.
