I rewrote the pattern to be less wordy. I cut and pasted the instructions into a Word document.

• replaced “(2 dc. Ch 2. 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp.” with the word “TOPST” in red font
• replace “(Dc2tog) twice. Ch 1. 1 dc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1. 1 dc in next dc. Ch 1. 1 dc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1. (Dc2tog) twice.” with the word “PATT” in blue font

Now the instructions are much easier for me to follow!

The shawl is easily lengthened, given the tips from karlaamm for her Rosy Lace Shawl.

July 23 - started this 2 weeks ago, and it’s been too hot to work on it since. Using plain red skein.

July 24 - finished row 12 tonight, twice. Frogged once.

July 26, 2011 - finished Row 17. I’m loving the simplified instructions!

July 27, 2011 - started skein 2, marled, on Row 22. on Row 27 now.

July 30, 2011 - on Row 31. This is the last row of the instructions, and I still have 1.5 skeins of yarn left!

July 31, 2011 - on Row 39. It’s not quite symmetical anymore, so my pattern extension was a bit wonky! I think I’m on the last row, so I’m adding in those extra chain 1s to open it up.

Aug. 8, 2011 - finished it last night. Now just to sew in the ends and block. I crocheted and frogged Row 39 three times, to finish off the row while using up every inch of yarn. It seems very tiny…

Aug. 22, 2011- blocked. It grew! The miracle of blocking.
