Finally, I’m making something for myself. I still have commissions to work on but I needed a mini-break before I could put my whole heart into making stuff for others again. So far I’m enjoying this easy knit and I’m loving the color variations of the Spincycle Yarn.

My yarns are one or two weights different from each other so I have to use my size 7 needles for the Spincycle yarn and then my size 6 needles for the slightly larger SweetGeorgia yarn which I am using for the lace section. It appears to be working fine this way.

I messed up on the first section of lace. I’m pretty sure I forgot a knit stitch between some yarn overs at some point. instead of going back, I decided just to plow forward. Since the shawl is for me, I don’t really care if the first lace section isn’t perfect. It gives the shawl character. Also, I noticed when looking at the correct lace section that the pattern looks like cute little Christmas trees. Once you’ve seen them you can’t un-see them (sorry).

Anyway, This shawl has been enjoyable to knit and the lace pattern isn’t too difficult to follow. But, I can’t have divided attention when I’m working on the lace pattern and I can’t stop in the middle of a row and then come back to it as easily.
