Gauge swatch indicated that I needed to go up to 5mm needles. I originally started making a large size but when I had finished about a quarter of the body it was clear that it was going to end up being way too big, despite having done a swatch. After some calculations I figured out that doing a small size on the bigger needles would give me a cardigan in a medium/large size. I followed the instructions for a small size apart from when it came to length, then I used the L instructions.

I opted to do ribbing rather than garter stitch for the cuffs, button band and bottom of the body.

The button band is a bit on the wide side but it works. I’m debating whether I should fold the neckband and sew it like in the second photo.

This is the second time I make this cardigan and I had the same troubles both times with ending up with slightly different number of stitches on the back during the saddle shoulder shaping (pattern says you should have 74 stitches at one point whereas I had 72). I dunno if that’s an issue on my side or the pattern.

I also had issues with the decreases in the saddle shoulder shaping. Following the instructions I did not always get a clean line of decreases. Some of the lines seem to have every other stitch slanting the opposite way. Not sure if it’s an error with the pattern or if the author does ssk and ssp differently from me (I was taught to knit/purl through the back loop during ssk and ssp). Not a big deal since the yarn is too dark for it to be very noticeable.

The instructions in the end of the saddle shoulder part are kind of unclear. To prevent holes forming on the back you have to do a couple of extra decreases that are not mentioned in the pattern. The pattern also has you stop and break the yarn in the middle of the work whereas knitting to the end made more sense to me.
