Looking at the fabric I had and the blanket as-is, I decided against putting anything on the back. I hope Robin likes it that way, and I hope if she doesn’t like it, she won’t tell me. :) I love the blanket and might have to make one for myself, the stripes are so darn cute.

Finished weaving in the ends, now just need to add the backing fabric… Sewing that on will be interesting. I’m going to see Robin on Friday, so I gotta finish it now…

This is the pattern I ended up with to make the blanket an actual square. The goal was to increase/decrease 6 stitches over 4 rows:

• 64 rows white
• 10 rows green
• 8 rows white
• 2 rows pink
• 8 rows white
• 8 rows green — then reverse this & decrease.

CO 3 st and K 1st row.
K1, p1, M1, K1.
K1, p1, M1, p1, K1.
K1, p1, M1, K1, p1, K1.
K1, p1, M1, p1, K1, p1, K1.

Increase rows:

• RS row 1 = K1, p1, K1, yo, K until 3 st remain, yo, K1, p1, K1
• WS row 2 = K1, p1, K1, M1L, P until 3 st remain, M1R, K1, p1, K1
• RS row 3 = K1, p1, M1R, K until 3 st remain, M1L, p1, K1
• WS row 4 = p all stitches

Decrease rows:

• RS row 1 = K1, p1, K2tog, K until 4 st remain, SSK, p1, K1
• WS row 2 = K1, p1, K1, P2tog, P until 5 st remain, P2tog, K1, p1, K1
• RS row 3 = K1, p1, K1, yo, K2tog, K until 6 st remain, SSK, yo, K1, p1, K1
• WS row 4 = same as WS2 Repeat the RS + WS sequence until 6 st remain.

K1, K2tog, K3. (5 st)
K1, K2tog, K2. (4 st)
K1, K2tog, K1. (3 st)
K3tog, cut yarn and pull through the loop

The blanket was coming out too diamond-shaped, plus I was lazy about my decreases and the sides didn’t match. I frogged the whole thing. Thankfully, it knits up very fast.

• 10 rows green
• 20 rows white (decr. at 10th)
• 10 rows green
• 80 rows white Pattern: CO 3 st and K 1st row. K1, p1, Kf+b, K to end of row. Repeat this until you have 6 st on your needles.

Increase rows:

• RS row 1 = K1, p1, K1, yo, K until 3 st remain, yo, K1, p1, K1
• WS row 2 = K1, p1, K1, P until 3 st remain, K1, p1, K1
• RS row 3 = K1, p1, Kf+b, K until 3 st remain, Kf+b, p1, K1

• K3tog, cut yarn and pull through the loop

Tie & bows: Using 2 strands of cc and crochet hook, chain until you have enough to weave thru eyelets from the starting point (leaving enough for a tie), along 2 sides and leave enough to tie with at the finishing point. Repeat for the other side. Tie bows at both points.
