Forgot to switch to stockinette, so followed the Watch Cap pattern for the decrease (while staying in pattern for Mash It Up). Ignored the fact that the stitch count is off by 4 (Cast-on differs by 4 stitches) and then got hopelessly lost while trying to follow the decreases. Also annoyed that k2tog or p2tog disturb the ribbing so nearish the top of the hat I switched to k2tog+p2tog for a 4-stitch descrease (per row) and adjusted how many stitches to put between each decrease on the fly (in other words, I have no idea what I did). Pleased with the the top of the crown turned out. Middle section not so much.
