Cast on with 2.75mm instead of 3mm to make it a bit tighter around the neck. I saw on most of the photos of finished kinas that the neckline tends to be a bit wide and sits very low on the shoulders, which will not be to Poppy’s taste. Hopefully using smaller needles will solve that problem.
Also, making size 6 so she can wear it next year too.
15/08: So many stitches, plain stockinette and 5 ply yarn… this is a slow-going project. I’m working on it here and there, alternating with other projects to break the monotony of the plain st st.
I’d originally planned on doing the long-sleeved version but have now decided I’ll do short sleeves so she can wear it in spring.
06/09: After I decided to make the short sleeves version for a spring cardi, this ended up on the back burner but I picked it up again yesterday. I’ve just done the sleeves and rejoined the fronts and back so I’m about to embark on the 23cm of mindless st st knitting. Considering knitting a love hearts pattern just above the garter st border to break the monotony of plain st st… we’ll see.
14/01/2015: Done! This took a while. All that stocking stitch meant that I wasn’t picking it up very often and hibernated it every time something more interesting was on my needles, but I got there in the end. Will be perfect for the cooler days in a couple of months. Just have to add buttons and try it on Pops.
