Notes

Alright, so this was quite an experiment. The pattern did not include a gauge. That was frustrating because generally I am a tight crocheter and usually go up a hook size or two when I’m working on a project. The pattern called for a size J hook… I started working on the hat and didn’t care for how “holey” it was… started over with an I hook… wasn’t shaped right. So, I just abandoned the hat part of the pattern and did my own thing for the hat.

I followed the pattern for the ears, but used a larger hook than I did for the hat. I also followed the pattern for the first part of the eye and then made them circles instead of ovals. I also altered the beak. I sewed on the eyes before I got out the buttons I had and the orange part of the eye was almost completely covered by the buttons, so I went up 2 hook sizes to make some orange circles and they ended up being the perfect size in relation to the buttons.

This is my son’s Halloween costume. I bought a brown onesie and glued felt feathers all over it. Pretty dang cute! :)
