07-16-2020 After reading other Ravelry project notes, I had no problem carrying my floats (fourth picture from top) while knitting the green stems
Just keep tension loose
I also did not reverse the toe leaf
chart as some knitters decided to do as I do not want to think about which sock goes on my right or left foot
06-16-2020 The second sock is done and matches perfectly -
the fit
Soaked in my favorite Eucalan Lavender wash and blocked (after tossing in the dryer for 10 minutes)
My first pair of socks are so comfy I can hardly wait for cold weather
I am officially a sock addict ‼️
Going to knit next “Wings of Hope” socks also designed by Charlotte Stone with This is Knit’s Darnie Red (shipped quickly from Dublin, Ireland) and West Green Yarn Blush Classic sock yarn shipped from West Sussex, England. Will hold the Blush with Rose Mohair Silk. Still waiting for the Blush Classic sock yarn also shipped May 15, 2020 all the way from the UK. Update: Vykky from West Green Yarn happy danced in her living room when I messaged her I finally received her Blush Sock yarn Friday, June 26, 2020!!!! Really BEAUTIFUL BLUSH Classic sock yarn
06-08-2020 Finished reknitting with US 1 (2.25mm) DPNs and circular. The first time I knit this sock with US 2 (2.5mm), I easily knit it. I learned a lot
But after frogging my first “too big attempt” and reknitting, I kept making silly mistakes and frogging
to knit it correctly. Finally tackling the second sock
05-28-2020 Here I go again using smaller size needle US 1 (2.25mm) to knit my entire sock … WHAT A DIFFERENCE

05-26-2020 Successfully frogged my first attempt
Will try a knitted Stretchy Cast On instead of Long Tail Cast using a Zing 12” US 1 (2.25mm) circular instead of DPNs. My second attempt should fit better and knit up must faster with a circular, especially since now I know the pattern
05-25-2020 Finished my first sock, but it is WAY tooo big
I learned a lot, have no problem frogging and think I might need to knit with US 0 (2mm) since I am a UK size 4.5
Only have a few rounds of the toe to finish and then Kitchener stitch.
Confused about instructions of Chart B
“1 round” must mean to knit all 7 rows of Chart B, which makes sense.
Knit 20 rounds before starting foot increases.
05-24-2020 Knitting gusset decreases - think I have discovered a heel that won’t slip and can be easily replaced when worn out - what a terrific design
Finished Chart A and heel easily. Knitting heel turn, gusset (picked up stitches easily and perfectly) and gusset decreases … instructions are GREAT
05-23-2020 Knit 23 rows of Chart A and will finish the “Martini” thistle stem tomorrow. I have knit so many fair isle projects, this is too easy and FUN
Finished K1P1 ribbing and required rows of stockinette. Excited to start Chart A color work with “Majesty.” Will continue knitting with my US 1.5 DPNs and watch the tension of my color work.
Cast on with “Lupine” (thought it would be more grayish, but I
lavender) using the Long Tail Cast On technique (plus 1 extra stitch) on one DPN. I slip the first stitch purlwise and proceeded to K1P1. Then I divid my stitches on to DPNs, join in the round by undoing my last purled stitch on my last DPN, slip that first slipped stitch on my first DPN over the last stitch on my last DPN, and then purl that last stitch. I like how this prevents an awkward join
Every sock
knitter I meet RAVES about wearing their own hand knit socks - so, here I go !! (I have only knit yoga socks … and do not wear them
)
05-22-2020 After reading various notes posted on Ravelry, decided to knit the medium size even though I have small feet, US 6.5, or UK 4.5 (YES - I actually measured the 20 cm circumference of my foot
) Don’t want to put all this work into socks if they might be too uncomfortable to wear, though I can always
and reknit
I gathered all my DPNs and remembered there are different “mm” sizes for US sizes
Decided to use my US 1.5 (2.5mm) and will make sure I do not knit my color work to tight.
05-20-2020 Received my yarn
It is GLORIOUS and so thrilled I was able to purchase the kit before the Lavender color sold out
(When you register with YarnLove, Katie offers a great discount on your first purchase!!!)
05-11-2020 During these COVID-19 days, I am so thankful I can knit and have Ravelry to inspire me
Discovered “Blooming Lavender Socks” designed by Charlotte Stone, Stoneknits when admiring “Wings of Hope Socks,” also designed by Charlotte Stone. (Purchased, downloaded and printed both patterns
) Found the “Blooming Lavender Socks” kit offered by Katie of YarnLove who collaborated with Charlotte.
