Notes

12-06-15 This was a HUGE project and took much longer than I anticipated, but I knit 95% of it at work :-)

I soaked longer than usual to finish some sewing (water was pinkish, color did not bleed as much as I thought it would) and aggressively blocked to 26” X 88” using my blocking wires and T-pins. Pulled 7 scalloped points at each 26” end.

12-04-15 ALL DONE KNITTING!!!
Finished Chart F repeats, last beaded row and bind off. Tails weaved - ready for soaking and blocking :-)
12-03-15 Finally finished eighth repeat and last 10 rows …now ready to knit Chart F with only 17 rows to bind off!!!
12-02-15 Finished seventh repeat and knit up to row 7 of eighth repeat.
12-01-15 Cannot believe I have not been able to knit for 10 days!!! Finally finished sixth repeat this morning and into seventh…finished up to row 11 of seventh repeat this afternoon. Only 57 rows to bind off!!!
11-20-15 Finished fifth repeat and knit up to row 11 of sixth repeat.
11-19-15 Halfway done with fifth repeat this morning and able to knit up to row 16 this afternoon.
11-18-15 Finished fourth repeat and started fifth.
11-17-15 Finished third repeat this morning and knit up to row 15 of fourth repeat this afternoon.
11-16-15 Able to knit up to row 15 of third repeat.
11-15-15 Started third repeat knitting up to row 11.
11-13-15 Finished second repeat. WHOA - while knitting the first 20 stitches of row 15, I discovered a bad join and had to tink back to the join on row 14 and spit splice the weak spot…so relieved I discovered it now and not while blocking!!!
11-12-15 Knit up to row 11 of second repeat…
11-10-15 Back at it…knit rows 19&20 finishing first repeat and up to row 5 of second repeat.
11-06-15 Knit set up row and first 12 rows of first repeat of Chart E on other side of stole this morning and knit up to row 19 this afternoon. Did I mention I knit at work?
11-05-15 Successfully started other side of stole knitting set up rows and Chart D.
11-04-15 WOW !!! Finally finished Chart F and after beading the edge, I finally completed the bind off loosely using a US8! NOW I HAVE TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN ON THE OTHER SIDE … will have enough beads and yarn left over to finally knit myself some beaded cuffs like I did for family a few years ago: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/muffymammamail/rani-2.
Will I set off airport metal detectors???
11-03-15 YEAH ! ! ! Finally finished all the repeats of Chart E and finally knitting Chart F…finished first 6 rows of Chart F. Will finish this side tomorrow!!
11-02-15 Finished last 2 rows of eighth repeat and knit up to row 5 of last 10 rows…anxious to knit Chart F and bind off so I can knit the other side!
10-30-15 Finished seventh repeat and up to row 19 of eighth repeat…shocked I am almost done with one side!
10-29-15 Knit up to row 15 of seventh repeat…only 36 more rows to finish 8 1/2 repeats of Chart E!!!
10-28-15 FINALLY finished fifth repeat this morning…do not know why I am slogging through this section?? On to the sixth repeat…oh my, just finished 10 rows of sixth repeat this morning and 10 more rows this afternoon! Sixth repeat done and on to the seventh!!!
10-27-15 Knit up to row 15 of fifth repeat today…
10-22-15 Only knit the first 7 rows of fifth repeat today…
10-21-15 Finished the fourth repeat and on to the fifth!
10-20-15 Finished 10 rows of fourth repeat of Chart E.
10-15-15 Finished third repeat…on to the fourth.
10-14-15 Back at it again…finished second repeat and on row 15 of third repeat of Chart E.
10-09-15 Knit up to row 19 of second repeat…
10-08-15 made it up to row 11 today…trying to knit 1 repeat of Chart E a day. Finally joined second skein at end of row 8 before 3 knit stitch edge. Best place to join as I had about 2 inches of yarn left to weave along inside edge and happy I did not have to back out the row!!!
10-07-15 Finished 1st of 8 repeats of Chart E. Hoping I can knit 1 repeat a day now…
10-06-15 Up to row 15…have to get moving on this!
10-05-15 Knit up to row 5 of first repeat of Chart E…may knit more than 8 times to make my stole longer :-) I usually like my wraps/stoles about 84” and I also have plenty of yarn with 3 skeins. Could also block it aggressively!!
So row 10 of Chart D is not all purled as shown - refer to written instructions. Learned how to M1P, which was tricky picking up after knitting the yo!
10-04-15 Successfully transitioned to row 6 of Chart D…since no longer knitting in the round, must remember to read chart symbols with right side and wrong side.
10-03-15 Finished Chart C and used size US7 to bind off - ❤️ it!
10-02-15 Finished up to row 80…row 79 was the best ever adding 84 beads!!! Only 8 more easy rows to bind off :-)
10-01-15 Finished Chart B and up to row 77 on Chart C…looking forward to binding off two sides to view the details!
09-30-15 Knit up to row 71.
09-29-15 Finally able to knit up to row 66 of Chart B.
09-27-15 Spent a few days at “The Big E” in Springfield, MA - 98,000 people attended Wednesday on Connecticut day compared to 51,000 on Tuesday, Rhode Island day!! Busy weekend and finally able to finish Chart A and begin Chart B.
09-21-15 Pushing to finish the center square…already on row 58 and getting excited to start Chart B! ! !
09-20-15 …row 45…
09-19-15 Switched from 16” circular to 29” circular on row 40 with 200 stitches. Opens up the design and no llonger looks like I’m knitting a little sack…
09-18-15 On row 39…
09-17-15 Upto row 34…

Now on row 31…this is where I will use a fancier bead (see picture - floral bead also looks like a dragonfly) in the middle of the point of the motif (the Sk2p) and also on row 51.

09-16-15 Finished up to row 25. Easily switched to 16” circular on row 14.

09-15-15 Now I am obsessed and ❤️ making this square grow ! ! !

Since I accidently found my leftover little bag of seed beads, I successfully knit the first 12 rows, after my third attempt to cast on with dpns. REMEMBER - when knitting in the round, read Chart A as though knitting is always on the right/front side :-)

Purchased on eBay more size 6/0 Miyuki Duracoat galvanized light pewter round seed beads like I used for my Dance With Dragon shawl…I know I have some leftover somewhere…

Why did I buy the book (though I do like other patterns in the book)??? Discovered this in someone’s comments and then noticed it on the Ravelry pattern page - get the “how to” notes for free: http://www.womansday.com/home/crafts-projects/how-to/a452...

The links to the charts are no longer available from Woman’s Day and when I printed them they included the errata…so I ended up buying the book.

Here’s the link to the errata again, though this is also on the Ravelry pattern page, and the charts I found included the erratas: http://www.knittersreview.com/clarabooks/kbow_errata.asp

After reviewing all my FAVS, it’s time to knit this project. Always desired to knit a square by starting in the center. Had to buy the book to figure out how to start this shawl and then downloaded the corrected chart and errata. Bought 3 skeins from Vexy, my new Ravelry friend’s stash.
