Notes

I love this blanket. All the colors, patterns and textures make it a party.

This is the perfect blanket for our warm SoCal summers. Being all cotton (Paton’s Grace), it’s weighty without being hot, and it’s comfortable next to the skin. We’ll probably be (sadly) packing it up every winter and bringing it out every summer.

This was a great way to use up my Grace stash, which was considerable. I’m estimating that this took over 70 skeins. I don’t even want to think about the cost.

With this sport weight cotton, a 3.5 mm (E) hook and 390 stitches per row, it was about 74” wide before border. At 80” in length it took about 2-1/2 months, start to finish. There was even a week off for vacation.

I’m used to working back and forth on flat crochet projects, but on this one, all the rows are worked on the front side (right to left) except parts of the chevron stitch and the “outlined cluster.” Maybe the intention was to make those elements puff toward the front. Well it may just be the cotton yarn, but when worked on the wrong side, the chevrons and clusters noticeably look like the back side of crochet and I don’t like it. Nevertheless, I stuck with it for the chevrons. I switched over to front side for the outlined clusters after that first one. If I were to do it over, I would work ALL rows on the front and just let the chevrons and clusters be recessed instead of puffy.
