My gauge came out as 32 stitches in 4 inches in the round before and after washing/drying. My foot is a size 11 women’s and so I am going to go with the large size, but not go down a needle size. I will see how the fit is. The cast on for the toe was interesting. I definitely needed the video, but smooth sailing after that. I did have my husband trace my foot. Oddly toe to heel measurement was 10.5 inches. That means I have to knit to 8 inches before I place markers for the heel.
So, I got past the heel point and was knitting up the leg and I forgot this project at my hairdressers. Since it is 30 minutes away and I have no other reason to go that way, the project sat there for 30 days.

So, I did the heel. Very good directions with the video. Also, very fiddly. I don’t know that I am an afterthought heel person, but hey, I tried it once. It is also very boring to knit a long tube. I did like the stretchiness of the sewn bind off, but the edge is not very neat.
