The only thing about this pattern that I used was the motif. I made it in worsted weight pink and purple yarn. I used a provisional crochet cast on because I may need to adjust the band. Started the motif 1 row up from the cast on. With the number of stitches I have that was about 2X through the motif.

My grandaughter would not look good in the shape of hat for the original pattern. She would be better with a tapered beanie with a pompom at the end. I also did not want to make this in fingering weight yarn. It would have taken forever.

Plan to use 1x1 ribbing on the band.
