Working on a pair of plaid mittens, inspired by the wedding plaid from “Outlander” the Starz tv series. Just a basic mitten pattern, cast on 44 sts, size 7 needles and made entirely of wool. Afterthought thumb is going to work the best, I think, and I may line these as well.

1-10-15 ~ Finished the first mitten, after re-working the top portion three different times ;) I’m still not happy with it, and will tweak it just a bit more on the second mitten. Also going to change the garter cuff (not on the second mitten, but on a second pair) Happy with the thumb. It feels great and goes quickly!

2-01-15 ~ Finished except for weaving in ends and blocking, then I’ll get photos. ETA: Top photo shows the finished mittens and the picot versus garter edge to the cuff. I prefer the picot edge ;) I made two mistakes in the pattern (you might be able to see!) so I need to adjust that in my chart. I’ve started a second pair with red, black and grey yarn and I’ll double check my chart with that. Also cast on a cowl to match the mittens. I’m hoping to get a blog post up about knitting these to share ;)
