Notes

I am pretty sure I used over 10 but less than 11 skeins of yarn on this 2nd making of this jacket. I had ordered a total of 13.

Sissy asked me to shorten the points in the front and the back. I decided to frog and start over with a smaller hook, but reusing the same yarn. I was not happy that my stitches in the first one were as loose as they appeared. My daughter said that after she was in the rain, the tails of the jacket touched the floor, so definitely needed a redo.

I tried the L/XL size since I used a smaller hook, but the shoulders came to more than 19”, so redid to S/M, and shoulders were closer to 17”, more what I needed. I wish the pattern contained more measurements than just bust size. I spent lots of time in the redoing because the size was larger than needed. I realize this pattern is from 2009, but can’t imagine that people couldn’t have used more measurements then also.

In making the sleeves I did not like having to look at 2 different pages of the pattern. You look on one page, and it tells you to complete the instructions on another page, but be sure you do this other instruction also in completing those instructions. My memory is not so good any more, so I found myself checking the two pages more than once to be sure I got everything right, but, of course, I do have errors anyway!

I like the fact that the only edging needed is on the front and neck edges!

Using an H hook and making sure my stitches were tighter this time, I am much happier with the results and am sure the points will not be too long on this 2nd making of this jacket.

I had made the mistake of machine washing and drying the first zen jacket I made with Paton’s Grace, and the resulting lint and fuzz balls were very bad. I was very disappointed that a relatively expensive cotton yarn could be so delicate as to require hand washing, as directed on the label.
