Nurse Mates Izzy Doll pattern by Esther Braithwaite

An Izzy Doll or Comfort Doll is a nifty simple soft doll made by creating a tube with a rounded off top then using running stitches to cinch the head, the feet, and then divide the legs and arms.

This designer has a handful of free basic patterns and more ornate paid patterns/animal alternates, but the nurses happened to be on the free list! I went my own way with her hair, eyes, and adding a heart to her chest, but love the simple result!

Also, the curly hair was achieved by wetting the 100% cotton yarn and coiling it around a skewer then baking it until dry, based on instructions in the doll pattern, but restyled. She did not specify yarn contents to use but I’d be quite wary of doing so with acrylics.. use care and don’t start a fire!
