I am helping to test the very cute “That 70’s Dress” pattern for Elena Nodel aka Anadiomena.
So far so good. I am getting close to joining the front and back but I want to have my daughters try it on before I connect -- just to check the size.
7/7/10 About 40% finished - now it is just knitting to length
7/8/10 Should be working but I am taking a long knit break -- just joined my 4th ball of yarn and the dress is measuring 11” from under the arm, 16.5” from the top of the neck.
7/9/10 Just added the 5th skein of yarn - but it seems like I won’t need all of it. Now measuring 15.25” from under the arm to the bottom - 21”om the top - I need to have one of my girls try it on for lenght in the AM and decide how much longer it needs to be.
7/10/10 Tried the dress on Syd this morning, too short - especially if there is any hope it might still fit in the spring - need a few more inches and I will try again. Maybe tomorrow… it is a beautiful day and my knitting will probably be parked until tonight. It is also a little clingy - I hope that blocking will help that.
7/11/10 Just joined the sixth skein of yarn - I am sure this will be the last. The latest photo posted is Mimi wearing the dress in progress - If it was only for Mimi, and it was not already mid-July I would say I have hit the right length to start finishing but, I would like the girls to get more than a few weeks wear so I will add a few more inches and finish up - maybe tonight or tomorrow.
7/12/10 Knitting is done! Now I just have to hem and block.
Length from under arm before starting the hem 20.5” - Un-hemmed Final length from under arm 22”
Total length from top, center to bottom un-hemmed 27.5”
Measured laying flat - across front from bottom of underarm to bottom of underarm 13”
Across un-hemmed bottom - 19.5” wide.
The hem only took 5 minutes - would have been faster if I was not on the phone with a client at the same time.
Blocking on a beach towel in the guest room… should have a final photo tomorrow :-)
The dress did get roomier after blocking - that’s good news as I hope that it will still fit my fast-growing girls in the spring. I love it - they do too!
